Donite Plastics designs and manufactures batches of custom-made plastic parts for an extensive customer portfolio covering many sectors and geographical locations – by thermoforming and CNC trimming. Located in a state-of-the-art facility in Co Down, the company has experienced exponential growth in a very competitive market. Following a review of our operations and structure and in response to this increased demand, we are recruiting an experienced and highly motivated Operations and Supply Chain Manager.
The successful candidate will help implement the step change in organisational systems now required, leading and monitoring all aspects of supply chain from order to delivery including managing preparation, execution, and delivery to project schedule through robust KPIs, intervening where necessary to resolve issues.
Working closely with the Managing Director and Senior Management Team, the Operations and Supply Manager will play a leading role in delivering company objectives and targets as set out in our strategy. They will also be responsible for leading the teams in meeting the needs of our customers and in producing the highest standard of product with maximum efficiency.
Job Description
The Operations Supply Chain Manager’s tasks will include:
- Delivery of an efficient operation to ensure that customers’ orders are produced on time, safely, to the correct standard of quality and at or below budgeted cost
- Lead the development, training and motivation of teams, ensuring they have the capability to high perform in their roles
- Line management, coaching/mentoring, and development of team members across supply chain, process engineering, maintenance and facilities, production/testing, and stores/warehousing
- Lead and motivate the supply chain and manufacturing operations team through ongoing communications, development of PDPs, 1-2-1 discussions, team briefings etc. to enable employees to realise their full potential and add value to the business
- Support sales and project management with customer engagement activities such as audits, site visits, etc. to demonstrate the depth of manufacturing expertise and capability
- Responsible for H&S across Operations
- Improvement in production/materials planning to minimise working capital
- Manage the Enterprise Resource Planning System as required for the production and supply chain process
- Oversee the warehousing operations and transport functions
- Be capable of solving complex challenges and leading the team through change
- Manage supply chain and manufacturing operations overhead budgets to plan, identifying opportunities to reduce costs and improve efficiencies where possible
- Be responsible for goods-in and goods-out leading the process flow of product through its life-cycle. Working to ensure the supply chain is in place to support long term growth
- Responsibility for achieving established supply chain and manufacturing KPI’s against agreed targets to ensure that project OTD is met, and customer schedule maintained
- Create, promote, and lead a culture of continual improvement by encouraging team members to take accountability, identify and realise opportunities for positive change through lean principles, tools, and techniques
- He/she will be expected to effectively utilise and monitor all supply chain staff and equipment to ensure parts are supplied on time and to a high quality
- Giving key input into the development of new procedures to cope with the rapidly increasing customer demand
- Ensuring material is ordered on time to meet supply chain targets
- Liaise with the other managers to set and to measure KPIs
- Strive to reduce expenses and increase productivity across all product lines
- Establish workflow policies that enhance speed and efficiency without compromising product safety or integrity
- Communicate any problems to rest of senior management team
- Involvement in quality issues to investigate the root cause analysis and ensure corrective / preventative actions are applied
- To undertake any other reasonable and relevant duties as required by management
Personnel Specification
- Hold a degree (or near equivalent) in a relevant subject
- Minimum two years’ experience in a senior role
- Flexible to work outside core business hours when required by the demands of the business
